Over the last 13 years, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people in a wide range of specialist therapeutic settings. Apart from offering private consultations as a therapist and a group/team facilitator, I have worked in several specialist organisations with families, adults and adolescents. This has provided me with broad experience in both general and specialised areas of psychotherapy and counselling, as well as with a better perspective on how different approaches to helping can be used effectively.
My approach to therapy is primarily based in principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy and also incorporates a range of other modalities according to specific needs – process work, mind body therapy, dreamwork, structural family therapy etc.
The psychodynamic approach presumes that the sources of emotional difficulties in our lives are often unconsciously created and maintained, and as such exert an invisible yet powerful influence in our relationships and how we experience who we are in the world.
I offer a way of identifying and working through such issues in the context of a collaborative and confidential therapeutic relationship. In this way, I help and support individuals, couples and families facing issues of depression, anxiety, anger, grief, self-esteem issues, relationship or family problems as well as those in difficult life transitions.
I have obtained my post-graduate qualification in psychotherapy after six years of supervised training. I am fully registered and professionally supervised and abide by the Code of Ethics of New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (NZAP). I look forward to your inquiries.
