Psychotherapy / Counselling Services : We all have the desire to live meaningful and satisfying lives. However, we are often faced with patterns of behaviour that interfere with our emotional well-being that leave us feeling frustrated and stuck. Taking the first step to talk to someone can be challenging. However, psychotherapy offers a way to ask questions that support change. As a psychotherapist, I focus on developing a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore underlying causes behind your emotions and behaviours. Together, we work to heal the root cause and emotional wounding that contribute to ongoing patterns, allowing you to develop emotional resilience, confidence and the capacity for enjoyment so you can live your best life.

Areas of Special Interest : All general issues, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety (social anxiety), relationship difficulties, trauma, anger, addiction, alcohol and drugs, eating disorders, OCD, self-esteem, grief and loss, work-related issues and life transitions.

Approach : I offer short and long-term therapy. My therapeutic approach is Psychodynamic and Relational with a particular interest in Neuropsychotherapy. Developing a safe and trusting relationship is of central importance to my work so you can feel comfortable talking about what troubles you.

For people who have a history of early relational trauma, the idea of asking for help, entering into a therapy relationship and talking about intimate concerns can make it difficult to engage in therapy. They are confronted with the dilemma of wanting help, but are fearful of being hurt due to issues around safety, trust, and a fear of abandonment, which add to their anxiety about being in relationship. For some people companionship may have been better found in pets making Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy an effective choice. It uses the animal-client-therapist relationship to create healing opportunities by establishing safety, trust, attachment and bonding experiences so clients can start to re-engage and experience satisfying relationships sooner. I work with my own pets at my Pakuranga practice on request. I am trained in CBT, DBT, Gestalt and sandtray therapy and art therapy (IDT).
